PROFESSIONAL STATUS
Logan Cravens has over 24 years of experience in architecture and education with a special emphasis in environmental design issues. Since 1992, Logan has been a recognized leader in Portland’s sustainable design community. He is a founding board member/founding President of the Cascadia Region Green Building Council and has served as co-chair of the Pacific Regional Council of Chapters of the US Green Building Council.
As the Estidama director for SERA Abu Dhabi, Logan applied the Interim and Pilot versions of the New Communities Rating Method to two Abu Dhabi projects, respectively, the Downtown Infill Development Framework for Abu Dhabi City and the Liwa Framework Master Plan in Al Gharbia. He has also organized or led numerous eco-workshops in the USA and Abu Dhabi which have focused on integrating sustainability into the design process. To date, he has documented and submitted two LEED–NC buildings which received certification and researched or advised on five other LEED projects.
In the role of architect, consultant, project manager Logan has worked on multiple building types including, federal courthouses, federal office buildings, higher education, hospitality, churches, medical research facilities, multi-family housing, prefabricated housing, retail centers, pedestrian bridges and transit stations. He has advised project teams on building envelope design and detailing and is a capable researcher of technical issues regarding sustainability . He also has working knowledge of various building envelope analysis tools such as WUFI®.
As project manager for multiple consultation contracts for the Administrative Office of the US Courts, Logan provided review and analysis of Federal Courthouses throughout the western United States and has working knowledge of blast and ballistic design, program and feasibility analysis, related historic preservation issues, and cost estimate analysis.
Logan has been an Adjunct Professor of Architecture at Portland State University since 1997. In those thirteen years he has taught various courses on sustainable architecture and design as well as building systems and sustainable materials.
