Eleni Antonelli and Cristina Valencia joins NSA

Neumann Sloat Arnold Architects warmly welcomes our two new stellar employees, Eleni Antonelli and Cristina Valencia!

Eleni recently received her Master of Science in Architecture from the University of Oregon. During her internship at renowned Ghafari Associates in Chicago, she worked on major regional planning and international aviation projects. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Patras, Greece in 2014 where she has received numerous awards including the Triantafillidis Foundation Scholarship and Linmat Stiftung Award for her outstanding academic performance. In 2012, she spent the year at the Politecnico di Milano in Italy as an Erasmus student. Eleni’s thesis research focused on comparing and categorizing water management structures in historical settlements. In addition, she has co-authored published works in water management systems and water conservation methods. Born and raised in the countryside, she enjoys spending time outdoors.

Cristina Valencia recently received her Master of Architecture from Arizona State University. Her thesis focused on developing interventions in public space through “space activation”. These strategies were designed to respond to both environmental and social ecologies through the use of flexible, dynamic, and adaptive systems. Her strategy identified boundary conditions at different scales designed to foster collaboration and reflect the creativity within the site externally.

Cristina gained experience in collaging, creative experimentation, and conceptual analysis during her internship with the internationally acclaimed firm, Enric Miralles-Benedetta Tagliabue Architects (EMBT) in Barcelona, Spain. In 2014, she was awarded Design Excellence for her work on the GMEX exhibition project. In 2007, she received her undergraduate degree from Arizona State University in visual communication design. She also taught Visual Communication courses in typography and graphic design at Arizona State University. Cristina’s thoughts are concerned with idea of evolution, practicing architecture with an emphasis on creative environmental design solutions, aspiring to bridge the gap between what is possible and what exists.

We look forward to growing with our new staff. We hope they find our work here to be rewarding, challenging, and meaningful. Cheers and welcome aboard!
